Wheel throwing Compact (4 + 1 dates)

Four appointments within 14 days, plus a glazing appointment in autumn.
The two sessions per week create a cohesive work process. Techniques can be directly repeated and reinforced.

Suitable for beginners and those who have already have gained first experiences in throwing and want to refresh their basics, clarify open questions, or practice under guidance.

Contents

We are working on the basics of wheel throwing: centering, pulling the walls, turning down and shaping.

From the very beginning, you'll be working independently at the wheel. We'll guide you through the process and provide direct support with technical questions and corrections.

We work meticulously and analyze each step of the process. This involves ensuring stability, consistent wall thickness, and controlled material usage. Corrections are made directly while working on the wheel.

You repeat key steps several times, developing confidence and a feel for the material.

Content

We work on throwing in summer and glazing in autumn.

The summer format is time-concentrated. The glazing session takes place with social distancing, allowing for a renewed, clear examination of one's own work. If you would like to have your pieces earlier, we can also book you into a glazing course in the summer.

Course level: Beginners

Age: 16 years and up

Includes: 2 kg of fired ceramic including clay
Use of all tools and glazes in the studio
3 additional studio hours for independent work

Additional firing costs: €15/kg of finished pieces
