8 dates ceramics course: for beginners and advanced

Have you often wondered how to make glazes and engobes yourself? Then this exciting 8-week course is just right for you! Under the guidance of Daniel Stuhlpfarrer, learn how to independently develop glazes and engobes using glaze raw materials such as ash, feldspar or quartz.

After a theoretical introduction, you will learn how to carry out the so-called triaxial tests. These results produce simple recipes that you can then modify and expand to develop your own personal glazes.
You will also have the opportunity to create your own ceramic objects in the course so that you can use the new glazes straight away.

The aim of the course is to develop a standard glaze that can then be expanded as desired with oxides.

The raw materials are provided and are included in the price; 1.5 kg of finished fired goods are included in the course price. After that, the firing costs are €15.00 / kg for finished pieces.

When you book your course, you will receive 3 studio hours free on top - you will receive hour cards from the teaching staff during the course. Materials and firing costs are not included in these hours.
Maximum 10 participants.

The course language for this course is German!

About Daniel Stuhlpfarrer:

During my stay abroad at the Istanbul Art University, I learned about turning on the potter's wheel. At first, I used this technique to build sculptures. The desire to be able to produce larger forms developed into a general fascination with the possibilities of the potter's wheel. I spent several intensive years in the ceramics workshop at the University of Applied Arts, where I was ultimately able to work as an assistant for two semesters. After completing my studies, I worked as an art mediator for six years. This was followed by a one-year apprenticeship with a potter in Gifu, Japan.

I am interested in dealing with location-related issues and forms of use. This spans both my artistic projects and ceramic utility series. In this context, I use raw materials that I have dug up/manufactured myself, which I use in different compositions as glazes and clay bodies for my works.
