Discover the incredibly versatile world of handbuilding techniques. From realistic objects to free, abstract forms. In this course, you will learn how to build, shape, and refine clay step by step with your hands, simple tools, and creative ideas. Whether it's vases, jars, or completely abstract objects, hand-building opens up endless possibilities beyond the potter's wheel.
This course is ideal for beginners and anyone who wants to experience ceramics without a potter's wheel. Together we will develop basic handbuilding techniques, set initial design accents, and give your imagination plenty of room.
Feel free to come with ideas or inspirations.
The course is structured as follows:
Day 1 (4 hours): Introduction to handbuilding technique, clay preparation, shaping of vessels or sculptures
Day 2 (2 hours): Painting and glazing of the bisque-fired pieces
The dates are sequential – attendance at both dates is necessary to achieve a finished result.
You can pick up your finished works approx. three weeks after the glazing date.
The first 3 kg of clay are included in the course price; thereafter, firing costs for course participants are €15 per kilo.
Language: German or English (to be selected during the booking process)
