In this 8-part advanced course, you will deepen your knowledge and skills on the potter’s wheel. The course is designed for participants who have already completed an introductory course and are familiar with the basics of throwing and trimming.

Course Content

Wedging Techniques
You will learn various wedging methods such as ox-head, spiral wedging, and marbling techniques to give your clay a unique structure and appearance.

Wheel-Throwing Skills
All essential steps on the wheel will be practiced, including centering, pulling up, shaping, trimming, and glazing. You will also learn to work with larger amounts of clay (1–3 kilograms) and how to create larger bowls, closed forms, vases, and bottles. Jacob will share practical tips and tricks to further develop your pottery skills.

Understanding the Kiln
Gain insights into firing curves and proper kiln settings, which are crucial for the final stages of your work.

Personalized Learning
The course is tailored to your individual goals. Whether you are working on a personal project or improving your technique, you will receive individual guidance and support.

Additional Information

The first 2 kilograms of finished pieces are included in the course fee. After that, the firing cost is 15.00 € per kilogram for finished pieces.

You do not need to bring anything, but it is recommended to wear clothes that can get dusty. Aprons are provided. Clay, glazes, and tools are freely available in the studio.

If you miss a session, it is not a problem. Missed classes can be made up free of charge in the rami Co-Making space (unsupervised studio), provided you have attended at least two sessions. This option is also available after the course ends.

Bonus

Your course registration includes three free studio hours for independent practice.
