In this four-part course with Jacob, you can expand and deepen your knowledge and skills in working on the potter's wheel. The course is ideal for anyone who has already completed an introductory course and is familiar with the basics (centering, trimming, glazing) of pottery.
Contents
Kneading techniques:
Learn the different kneading techniques, from the ox head to the spiral kneading technique, as well as marbling techniques, to give your clay a unique touch.
Expertise at the hub:
We'll focus on all the individual steps involved in working on a wheel: centering, drawing, shaping, and later, shaping through trimming and glazing. Jacob will share useful tips and tricks to help you develop your pottery skills. Working with larger quantities of clay (1-3 kg) will also be covered: for example, how to create larger bowls and closed forms, including vases and bottles.
Understanding the kiln:
Gain insights into firing curves and how to adjust the kiln, which is crucial for the final stages of your clay work.
Personalized learning style:
This course is all about you and your personal approach to clay. Whether you have a project in mind or want to improve your skills, we'll work together to achieve your goals.
The first 1.5 kg of finished pieces are included in the course fee. Firing costs after the first 1.5 kg are €15.00 per kg for finished pieces. You don't need to bring anything, but feel free to wear clothes that can get dusty. Aprons are available. Clay can be easily washed out of clothing. Glazes and tools are freely available in the studio.
If you miss a class, it's no problem. All missed classes can be made up free of charge during our opening hours, provided you have sufficient basic knowledge (have attended at least two sessions) at rami Co-Making (unsupervised studio). This also applies after the course has ended.
When you book your course you will also receive 3 free studio hours for independent practice. You will receive the cards for this from Jacob in the first unit.
Maximum 10 participants.
